An online course for those who want to improve their spoken English accuracy and fluency

Description

Objective

The aim of this practical 30-week course is to allow teachers to develop their English language skills, specifically focussing on their spoken English production and increasing their confidence in this area.

Students will work through a variety of current topics of interest and develop their fluency by sharing ideas with their classmates. Students will gain confidence in their use of English and will expand their knowledge of vocabulary used in a spoken context. By the end of the course, they will have increased knowledge, confidence and resources to put into practice when speaking in English outside of the classroom.

Please note, this group is for students with level B1/B2.

Course Delivery

Classes will be conducted online via Zoom with a teacher.

Maximum number of 12 students per group.

Course Content

Students will discuss a different topic each week, using authentic material for English speakers. Each 1.5-hour lesson will include a mixture of:

  • Conversation questions
  • Video content
  • Vocabulary activities
  • Reading texts related to the topic

Students will also have access to further material which will provide them with useful vocabulary on a number of topics, as well as practice questions that they can use to further refine their speaking skills outside of the classroom.

Requirements

Students need to take an online level test before the course starts. Intermediate level refers to B1/B2 students and Advanced is C1/C2. Students will be placed in the groups according to the level obtained in pre-course the level test.

This course is suitable for anyone looking to improve their level of spoken English to be able to talk about a variety of topics. Students will be expected to participate throughout the lessons and contribute their ideas as a whole group and in pairs.

Students should be prepared to be corrected and to develop both their spoken fluency and accuracy.

Course participants must use a suitable device to attend the classes, with a camera that they can connect when using Zoom. It is suggested that course participants download the Zoom app before starting the classes.
